Realmont is a beautiful bastide with a surprisingly large market every Wednesday morning and a smaller one on Saturday mornings. It has an excellent range of shops (all of which, apart from the Intermarche supermarket, are open on Sunday morning) and several bars and restaurants.

There are plenty of amenities nearby. The Lac de la Bancalie, a particularly rich resource on hot summer days, is only 10 minutes by car: here you can enjoy swimming, pedaloes, fishing, picnics and long walks by the water's edge. Delightfully spacious even on busy days.

Albi, the capital city of the Tarn, is only 20 minutes away, as is the picturesque town of Castres with the river Agout at its centre.
